HOW'D WE GET HERE?
It all started with love! That's what brings people together. Love for one another, and love for the game of golf. In 1993 a young Marty McHugh would marry the love of his life, but first, being the Irishman he is, he needed to walk the links before he walked the aisle.
What has become known as the McHugh Open started with three foursomes at Red Tail Golf Course for Marty's bachelor party. The 12 individuals were brothers and most importantly, friends. As the years went by, the number of friends increased, and the name of the outing changed. There was the McTurner Open, the McTurnFlanner Open, the McFlanTurnDer Open and several others. The Open name incorporated the family and friends names. McHugh, Turner (McHugh cousins) Flannery (Jack McHugh's police partner) Dermitt (Another Friend of Jack's).

In 2007 the Open became known as the MAC Open in memory of John 'Jack' McHugh, the father of the McHugh clan. In 2010 the name changed to the MAC/JACK OPEN after the passing of the younger Jack McHugh, or commonly known as The McHugh Open.

The McHugh Open has been hosted throughout the Mid-West at various golf courses such as: Red Tail GC, Bloomingdale GC, White Pines GC, Bonnie Brook GC, Edgebrook GC, Viroqua Wis. GC, Morengo GC, Coachmen's GC (Multiple times), Fox Run GC, Gull Lakeview (Augusta MI), Brae Loch GC., Bristol GC (WI), Twin Lakes CC (WI) and mutiple more.
